Psalm 107
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. 2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say this those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, 3 those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. 4 Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. 5 They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. 6 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 7 He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. 8 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, 9 for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. 10 Some sat in darkness and the deepest gloom, prisoners suffering in iron chains, 11for they had rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High. 12 So he subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help. 13 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 14 He brought them out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains. 15Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, 16 for he breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron. 17 Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. 18 They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. 19 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 20 He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. 21Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. 22 Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy. 23 Others went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters. 24 They saw the works of the Lord, his wonderful deeds in the deep. 25 For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves. 26 They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril, their courage melted away. 27 They reeled and staggered like drunken men; they were at their wits' end. 28 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. 29 He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. 30 They were glad when it grew calm, and he
guided them to their desired haven. 31 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. 32 Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the council of the elders. 33He turned rivers into a desert, flowing springs into thirsty ground, 34and fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who lived there. 35 He turned the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs; 36 there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle. 37 They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest; 38he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and he did not let their herds diminish. 39 Then their numbers decreased, and they were humbled by oppression, calamity, and sorrow; 40 he who pours contempt on nobles made them wander in a trackless waste. 41 But he lifted the needy out of their affliction and increased their families like flocks. 42 The upright see and rejoice, but all the wicked shut their mouths. 43 Whoever is wise, let him heed these things and consider the great love of the Lord.

If you’d like to contribute, simply write “missionary families” in the memo line of your check or Venmo, and your gift will be designated directly to their ministries. We look forward to a summer visit from the Klompiens once again. Stay tuned for that....
UPDATE ON SAMARITAN'S PURSE MISSION TRIP: It is time to finalize our team for a Samaritan's Purse mission trip this fall! How does a week in North Carolina, Burnsville specifically, in October sound? That's right. We can sign up now for a week in October, but first we need to finalize our team members. If you haven't indicated your interest in this mission trip yet and want to go, please add your name to the list at the Connection Center. Someone from the Outreach team will be calling you in the next week or two to nail down your commitment. Youth 14-15 must be accompanied by the same gender parent or legal guardian. Youth 16-17 must be accompanied by a same-gender chaperone. We will leave MC on a Saturday and leave Burnsville, NC on the following Friday after work. We will be repairing homes or working on a new build home. This area in North Carolina was heavily damaged in the September of 2024 Hurricane Helene. No prior skill is needed; just a heart for service. This is a great opportunity to serve hurting folks in the name of Jesus!

Luke 24:30-31
Jesus reveals himself to his followers on the Road to Emmaus, teaching them about His suffering and glory. Through a blindfold activity, children experience the surprise of recognizing Jesus. The lesson emphasizes Jesus' death, resurrection, and presence in our lives, encouraging children to ask God to "open our eyes" to see Him
Invite several young people or adults (possibly some church leaders) to speak to the children. Instruct the guests to say, “You are not going to believe it, but two men were walking and talking with someone they didn’t even recognize.” (Keep your guests away so children do not see them ahead of time.)
Blindfold each child. If children are uncomfortable with a blindfold, ask them to close their eyes.
Our Bible lesson today tells an amazing story about a day when someone important walked and talked with some men on the Road to Emmaus, but they didn't even recognize Him. Let’s see what that might have been like for the men on the Road to Emmaus.
One by one, have your guests say, “You are not going to believe it, but two men were walking and talking with someone they didn’t even recognize.”
After each guest says that sentence, allow kids to guess who it is by only hearing their voice. If a child guesses right, they get to take off their blindfold. After all the guests have had a turn, invite kids to take off their blindfolds. Tell kids to have them ready to hold over their eyes when given instruction.
Here’s what the special man said to them: "Do you find it so difficult to believe what was written by the prophets in the Scripture? It was predicted by the prophets that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering His time of glory." Do you have any guesses of who they were talking to on the road that day?
(Allow kids to guess who the men were talking to on the road.)
If you’ve heard this story before, you know the men were talking to Jesus even though they didn’t realize it. For some of you, it was easy to guess who our special guests were today, but for others it was difficult.
These men on the road had just been through a hard time. They knew Jesus had been crucified so He would not have been their first guess of who they were talking to on the road. Jesus had to open their eyes to see it was Him. (Luke 24:30-31)
Instruct kids to hold the blindfold over their eyes. Guide them to take the blindfold off their eyes when you say, “Open our eyes” in the prayer.
God, thank you that Jesus died for our sins. Not only did He die, but He defeated death and rose again. Thank You that Jesus is alive and working in the world today. Open our eyes, (kids take off blindfolds) because we want to see Jesus! In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
