Lord, I Lift Your Name On High
Sunday School 10:45 - 11:30 am
1 John 4:7-12
4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood. 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

B. “As is”

· 1 John 4:9-10

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped lead and support worship throughout: Lent, Good Friday Service, Sunrise Service, Celebration Service, and Easter Breakfast. Your dedication, creativity, and servant hearts made this season deeply meaningful. We are truly Blessed to be a Blessing. — Pastor Phil
REMEMBER our wonderful opportunity to bless our missionary families—the Klompiens in Nepal and the Helfers in South Africa—through our financial gifts. If you’d like to contribute, simply write “missionary families” in the memo line of your check or Venmo, and your gift will be designated directly to their ministries. We look forward to a summer visit from the Klompiens once again. Stay tuned for that....
UPDATE ON SAMARITAN'S PURSE MISSION TRIP: It is time to finalize our team for a Samaritan's Purse mission trip this fall! How does a week in North Carolina, Burnsville specifically, in October sound? That's right. We can sign up now for a week in October, but first we need to finalize our team members. If you haven't indicated your interest in this mission trip yet and want to go, please add your name to the list at the Connection Center. Someone from the Outreach team will be calling you in the next week or two to nail down your commitment. Youth 14-15 must be accompanied by the same gender parent or legal guardian. Youth 16-17 must be accompanied by a same-gender chaperone. We will leave MC on a Saturday and leave Burnsville, NC on the following Friday after work. We will be repairing homes or working on a new build home. This area in North Carolina was heavily damaged in the September of 2024 Hurricane Helene. Pray for our Elders and Deacons that they have the discernment to know how to govern our church. Pray that God’s purpose will be done. . And please continue to pray earnestly for peace in the Middle East. Pray for a quick resolution to the conflict and for lasting peace to take hold in the region.
John 20:19-31
Jesus has risen, believe it or not! Doubting Thomas needed to see to believe, but Jesus blesses those who believe without seeing. Through faith, we accept Jesus' resurrection, even if we haven't seen Him.
There is a very interesting book called "Believe It or Not" by Robert Ripley. Mr. Ripley enjoyed collecting strange and amazing bits of information which, although they seem unbelievable, were true. Let me read some examples of some of the amazing things you will find in his book.
A man by the name of James Cook once had a chicken that laid a perfectly square egg. Now, I’ve seen white eggs, brown eggs, even spotted eggs, but I have never seen a square egg. Have you? I think I'd have to see it to believe it!
Joann Barnes was a 15-year-old from California, and she once swung a lot of hula-hoops on her body at the same time! How many do you think she swung on her body? (Take guesses until kids say 68.) Can you believe that? I can't even keep one hula-hoop going. I think I would have to see that to believe it!
Here's one I'll bet you didn't know. How long do you think the world’s largest weenie was? (Take guesses until kids say 3,000 feet.) The world's largest weenie was over 3,000 feet long, weighed 885 pounds, and took 103 butchers to carry it! Now that's a lot of baloney! I would have to see that to believe it!
This book is filled with things that are very hard for me to believe. But do you know what? If it's true, it's true--whether I believe it or not!
In today’s Bible lesson we learn that on the Sunday that Jesus rose from the grave, He appeared to a group of His disciples. One of the disciples, whose name was Thomas, was not with them. When the disciples told Thomas that they had seen Jesus and that He was alive, Thomas said, "I won't believe it until I see it with my own eyes. I want to put my finger in the nail-prints in His hands—and place my hand where the spear was thrust into His side.
A week later, Thomas saw Jesus. Jesus invited Thomas to touch His hands where the nails had been. He told Thomas to put his hand in the wound in His side. Then Thomas believed! Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
A lot of people today won't believe that Jesus really rose from the grave because they haven't seen Him with their own two eyes. Do you know what? It is true whether they believe it or not! You and I have never seen Jesus, but we believe. We accept Him by faith. We don’t have to see it to believe it!
Dear Jesus, thank You that You help us accept by faith that You have risen from the grave and that You are alive. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
